Henry Martinez
Henry Martinez currently serves as the Director of the 5 Star Mid-Atlantic MD group. Throughout his life, he has worked diligently towards his personal goals and endeavors. Now his passion has become assisting players in the pursuit of their own personal goals, baseball goals, and fitness goals.
During Martinez’s time at Jackson-Reed (formerly known as Woodrow Wilson High School), he was a Varsity Level Three (3 year) Sport Athlete. He earned honors in each sport Basketball, Baseball, and Football. Through hard work and dedication, he was fortunate to earn a full ride Division 2 scholarship at Bowie State University in Football. After attending Bowie State University for two years he decided to transfer to Southern University A&M College where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources.
After graduating from Southern University, A&M College he decided to pursue a career in coaching. For 4 years, Martinez served as an Assistant Coach on the Varsity/JV Basketball team and Head Coach for Freshman Basketball team at Jackson-Reed High School. During his tenure as a Basketball Coach, Martinez has been fortunate to win 1 State Championship and 3 City Championships. During that period of time, he also served as an Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach and Head JV Baseball Coach at Jackson-Reed for 4 years. As a Baseball Coach, he has also won 1 State Championship and 2 City Championships. He took over the program for 2 years and served as the Varsity Head Coach and won two city championships and made two appearances to the state championship finishing up as runner-up. During that time, Martinez won several Coach of the Year awards and now serves as the Head Varsity Coach at the Landon School in Bethesda, MD.
In the short period as a Coach, Martinez has been fortunate to coach and train a plethora of Division 1, 2, and 3 athletes. He has been a part of two successful programs and hopes to continue to share his knowledge, passion, and love for up-and-coming athletes in the DMV area.
